Today, I will talk about my recent trip to Gyeongju.
The concept of this Gyeongju trip is
1. a family trip
2. a cherry blossom tour
3. a historical tour
It's a trip with all of these mixed together😉
Let's go!
First, take the KTX and get off at Gyeongju Station.
Although ‘Gyeongju’ is not written anywhere in the photo, you can tell that this is Gyeongju Station through the slight curve on the ceiling.
Let’s grab our suitcases and go outside!
As a side note, my younger brother saw this and started to mumble that he didn't know why he needed a suitcase for domestic travel.
A backpack is not enough for 2 nights and 3 days!
Hwangridan-gil & Daehwa Mandu Hwangridan Branch
Originally, I planned to eat at a restaurant on Hwangridan-gil
that I knew about before starting the actual trip.
The hamburger I ate on the train to Gyeongju had not yet been digested,
so I wasn't very hungry, but I was in an ambiguous situation
where I didn't think I could avoid eating.
After much deliberation, I finally found a restaurant
where I could have a quick meal,
a place called ‘Daehwa Mandu’!
This is a place that sells Korean snacks
such as tteokbokki and dumplings.
To be honest, I can't say it's super delicious,
but I think it's okay for a light meal.
However, since Tteokbokki is a bit spicy,
I think it would be difficult to recommend it to foreigners!
Shrimp dumplings were delicious :)
Daereungwon & Daereungwon Stone Wall Road
Daereungwon in Gyeongju is a place
with a lot of historical significance,
It is also a place to take a photo to show
that you are in Gyeongju.
In fact, there are many tombs like this in Gyeongju.
There is no need to wait in line to take pictures.
The Daereungwon photo spot is right here.
There is a large magnolia tree between the two tombs.
Everyone is lining up like that to take pictures here...
If the weather is nice or you think it’s pretty
I was wondering whether to take a picture or not...
There's a long way to go, and it's not really my favorite spot.
I quickly skipped over and moved on.
This is Daereungwon Stone Wall Road!
It's a stone wall road surrounding Daereungwon,
and because there are cherry trees all around the stone wall road,
there are a lot of people who come to see the cherry blossoms.
However, as of March 31, the cherry blossoms on Daereungwon Stone Wall Road were not in full bloom..!
It’s a shame..~!
However, because it was the Cherry Blossom Festival period,
there were a lot of people, singing could be heard,
and various events were taking place at various booths,
so it was fun to watch.
Cheomseongdae
If you walk along the stone wall road of Daereungwon,
you will find Cheomseongdae.
If you walk like this, Gyeongju is full of historic sites!
That is why it is also a popular city for travelers.
It's also great for a family trip.
Oh, by the way, Cheomseongdae is an astronomical observatory
from the Silla period during the Three Kingdoms period!
It is one of the representative buildings
that I could see in textbooks when I was young.
When I actually saw it, I thought it was really small.
Isn’t it so cute..?
As you walk, you can also see this pretty stream(?).
Actually, I forced myself to take this photo
because my younger brother asked me to do so.
I'm not sure what's pretty in my eyes...
People's tastes vary, so I took a picture.
What does it look like in your eyes?
Is it pretty..?
And now I understand why they say Gyeongju = cherry blossoms.
As you walk, all you see on the road are cherry trees!
I can't not take pictures...
A wonderful tree seen on the walk
from Cheomseongdae to the Gyeongju National Museum!
I think it was a willow tree,
but it was so pretty that I took a picture of it^,^
And the tulips and daisies(?) I saw almost upon arriving at the Gyeongju National Museum, and the colors are so pretty.
At first glance, it looked like an artificial flower,
but it seemed to be a fresh flower..!
Gyeongju National Museum'
If you walk while appreciating nature,
you will soon see the 'Gyeongju National Museum'.
There are a lot of cool things inside the museum,
but the museum building and nearby buildings are all cool,
so I recommend taking a look at them together!
The photo is ‘Sumukdang’ within the Gyeongju National Museum.
The combination of Hanok + pond + trees definitely seems to be the best!
I went to this museum last year as well,
and I thought something had changed...
but it looks like the interior has been remodeled!
While visiting the Gyeongju National Museum,
I took pictures of things I liked.
Looks so cute,,
Aren’t these two in particular really cute?
As I was looking around the museum,
it was already time for it to close!
Gyeongju National Museum is a place
where you can see a wonderful sunset,
so it would be a good idea to visit at sunset time.
Alternatively, it would be nice to watch the sunset
at the Gyeongju National Museum
and then go to Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond nearby
to see the night view after the sun sets!
This is how we end Day 1.
